Taking into account the interests of each participant, this workshop will focus on the research and development of a personal language through the use of performative gestures. The intention is to activate the political and critical possibilities of the body in relation to issues that affect human potential. Participants will be encouraged to explore new ways of inserting their body into everyday life and to use public space in ways that consider privilege and dialogue with the uninformed public (the third body). They will also be introduced to the notion of “possible bodies,” a theoretical reading of the body familiar to Latin American approaches to performance. Intensive physical exercises will be used to experience dynamic and non-object-based processes.
Throughout the workshop, participants will be invited to develop the practice of criticism and to reflection on their individual research, as well as the proposals of other participants. The workshop will conclude with a joint presentation of the participants’ work.
